One More for November

Welcome to John's Island. We simply cannot believe how fast time is flying by.  Here we are at the end of November.  John's search for gold in the Golden Years continues.  In the meantime, he snapped a few photos of various scenes, just in the last few days, to share here on the Island. Thanks for stopping by John's Island.

Quiet, late afternoon in the city

Ducks on a log (yes the log is submerged about half an inch)

Always something different going on at Green Lake

Early, foggy, chilly fall morning

The weather brings out this little family

Did not see these ducks in the summer ... wondering where they spent the summer.

Evergreen vs decidious

No, not John's Island Headquarters. But nice old Seattle home on Capitol Hill

Like the afternoon light in fall ... from the observation deck at Headquarters

Rainy, fall morning at Green Lake

Some trees hanging on to their leaves

A young, or at least smaller, heron ... first time to see this one

Liked the morning light on the evergreens

Favorite place for late afternoon tea (and an old favorite shot from 2010)

Lily Pond and more

Still Lily Pond provides reflections

Grass in the pond has turned brown

Low sun - A beautiful afternoon closing

Look carefully for the gold (fish)
Hello followers and friends on a Friday morning in mid-November.  Fall color in our trees here in Seattle has peaked, most of the leaves are down, the sun is lower in the sky, and the days are getting shorter.  Thursday was just a beautiful day with clear skies and cool temps.  Late in the afternoon we stopped by the Lily Ponds at Volunteer Park and spent some time reflecting on the beauty of Fall.  Also snapped some photos of Black Sun, a sculpture, that made me think about Stonehenge and how stones and the sun can work together to give precise date and time.  Finally, a couple of snaps of one of the (at least two) herons at Green Lake and dawn.  Thank you for stopping by John's Island and have a great weekend.

Peaceful afternoon at Volunteer Park, Seattle, WA

Funny how this made me think of Stonehenge

Solitude in the city

Same heron (?) different morning

Leaves

This fall we decided to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the season right down to the individual leaves.  Here are some of my recent photos, for the most part unedited, except to resize for the web.  Some are favorites because of the lighting, others for the setting, colors, or other unique features.  Leaves are like fingerprints ... similar, yet different ... sometimes in tiny ways.  The more I focused on individual leaves, the more awe I felt for the power of the universe that creates these small slices of our world.  Hope you enjoy, appreciate your kind comments, and thanks for stopping by John's Island.

One so different

Fresh, yet old

Some, of what used to be all, remains

Layers of deterioration

Effect on evaporation

Like highways:  veins lead to petiole.  Did you know "petiole"?

Ablaze

Liked the arrangement here and in the next few.

In all photos, the leaves are as I found them.

Rainbow of leaves

Note the "blade"

Amazing RANGE of colors

Liked the shadow

Thanks for stopping by.
