Benjamin Franklin Arrives

"Big-Time" Maritime Update ...

The largest vessel ever to visit the Port of Seattle arrived Monday morning, February 29, 2016. We spotted her on arrival and snapped the photo below. The CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin is larger than the Queen Mary II. It is also larger than the USS George H W Bush Aircraft Carrier. Be sure to see the cool graphic (below) from the CMA CGM website that shows comparative sizes.

  1. That is one HUGE ship, John! Thanks for all the information and links. And since I wasn't born in March, I suspect that might be one reason why the fortune doesn't fit me at all! :-)

  2. Hello, John! What a huge ship. It must be amazing sight for the fans of the big ships. The March postcard and fortune is neat. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

  3. History is being made! Given the ship's name I thought it must belong to the USA but the info you've provided says Great Britain. Have a wonderful weekend John and thanks for your lovely comment today on my blog :-)

  4. Wow that is one mega ship!!
My daughter was born in March and some things are true and others way off!!

  5. What an enormous ship! My son and husband have birthdays in March!

  6. It's unbelievable how large these carriers can be. When you think of how large the containers are it gives some idea of how large this puppy is.

  7. Not sure if I believe in fortune telling but this is a good post. That ship is intimidating! :)

  8. Good to see a big ship calling on Seattle. If you follow the Baltic Dry index, it is near an all time low. Makes me wonder if ships like are sailing full?

  9. That is a HUGE ship indeed!!! Terrific captures for the day, as always, John!! And thanks for sharing, as always!! I hope you're enjoying a great weekend!!

  10. Fantastic vessel indeed, would love to have seen this with my own eyes. The March postcard is very cool, my daughter is a march baby and very scientific!!!

  11. Very interesting the huge ship.

My Granddaughter is in March, my hubby, son-law , my other Grandson. And your daughter is. I know for sure in my March bunch. They are extremely intelligent. And I would presume your a proud Pappa too.

  12. oh my! Bigger than an aircraft carrier...:)

  13. The March postcard is so cool, you have an amazing postcard collection indeed!
Thank you for your always nice comments on my blog.
