Standoff in the Wild West

Recent Snaps

Standoff in the Wild West
Watched this for a minute or two.
They paid me no mind and stayed focused on each other.
Finally, the crow took flight.

Phoenix fishing vessel arriving in port just as
I'm starting my walk. About 6AM.

Getting ready to tie her up.

I thought it was unlucky to rename marine vessels.
Looks like the Phoenix used to be Pacific Glacier.

Many tempting benches are along the walk.
Sit and relax for a while.

A Washington State Ferry passes below Mt Rainier
in the distance.

Summer fun!

A healthy looking bunny.

Looking southeast from the waterfront trail.

Geese in a row.

Enjoying the morning sun.

Lots more critter photos via Saturday's Critters.  Enjoy!

New growth.

Wrapping up my walk ... the Phoenix is all tied up.
The Phoenix is one of many Alaska fishing vessels.

Snapped from home ... looking to the marina where the
Lonian is docked. Pretty nice vessel!
How about a custom voyage?

New tourist boat takes folks around Elliott Bay.

[More affordable than the Lonian 😊]

Late afternoon a bulk carrier departs in a sea of sparkles.

Firecracker for you.

  2. Hello John, :=) I was so pleased to see your post, which means your break did you good, and you are feeling better. Welcome back! Here in Portugal it is 6 30 am, and it looks like it is going to be a lovely warm day. Like you, I am an early riser, and don't want to waste a minute of a summer morning. You certainly saw some interesting things on your walk. The "stand off" made me smile, not something you see every day.:=) The line of swimming geese, and cute bunny picture, are all great finds. I was not aware that changing the name of a ship was a bad omen, but Phoenix is a fine name for a fishing boat. The Lonian, is quite a streamlined vessel, but I do like the look of the smaller neat looking tourist boat. and also The Official Port of Seattle Light.
    All the best.

  3. Hello John,
Happy 4th of July weekend to you! Wonderful photos from your walk. I am always amazed at the views you have of Mt. Rainier. I love the cute bunny staring down the crow. Both bunny and the geese in a row photos are cute. Great captures of the ships and fishing vessel. Your 4th of July postcard is cute. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

  4. At least those two facing off against each other didn't have guns, and they wisely decided it wasn't worth a squabble anyway!

  5. That first shot is great. The crow can’t believe he’s looking at too much food to handle.

Love the shot of the sea-doo and the cargo ship together. Amazing that both can float!

Mt. Rainier is always a winning shot in my book.

Love the various boats and ships. Do you ever get tired watching them? I don’t think I would.

  10. I forgot it was the 4th July coming up not that we celebrate here. I see your camera is still serving you well or have you swapped it. Like how you zoomed in on that bunny and crow, nicely spotted

  13. Happy July wishes John.
Lovely collection of photographs, you always provide a great selection.

We have squirrels in our garden which I enjoy watching, although they can be a little annoying when they dig up a new plant that's just been put in! But it is lovely to be out in the garden, or going for walks and enjoying nature.

Both Eddie and I wish you a happy and healthy week ahead.

    All the best Jan

  15. I like the standoff photo, certainly not something you see everyday, and it ended well too. I didn't know about not renaming a marine vessel, I suppose they found a loophole by naming her Phoenix. Mt. Rainier looks gorgeous. Beautiful photos, John!! They always brighten my day.
