Some forest fires in Russia are burning so hot that the smoke is rising up into the atmosphere to the level of the Jet Stream. The Jet Stream is carrying the smoke all the way across the Pacific to North America. Here in Seattle the smoke creates a layer of haze and some beautiful sunsets. This one on July 12 reminded us of a painting.

ReplyDeleteAn appreciative gasp came from my mouth when I first viewed this striking image. A most glorious scene, John! The stunning colors are breathtaking. I think the change in the cloud pattern on the left side makes the photograph even more interesting. Beautiful work! I hope you are having a very enjoyable summer!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot - Great tones and nice to learn why the sky popped so nicely in this shot! KUDOS!
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a painting and a very beautiful one at that.
ReplyDeleteWow! Spectacular shot and I never really considered that the jet stream would carry smoke like that!
ReplyDeleteRight it looks like a painting to me. Nice capture! I hope the fire did not cause damage to lives though.
