Wordle 237 - February 11 2022

 Wordle 237 3/6 ⬛🟨⬛⬛⬛ ⬛🟩🟨⬛🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Wordle is a web-based word game developed by Josh Wardle. Players have six attempts to guess a five-letter word, with feedback given for each guess in the form of colored tiles indicating when letters match or occupy the correct position. The game first appeared online last October. So far, there is only one Wordle each day. If you enjoy word puzzels this game is addictive. Today, February 11, I played Wordle (#237) and got the correct answer on the third try. The very first line above shows the "share" results.

Walk snaps ...

February 6th  9:05AM

For first time visitors:  My current challenge is to walk about 2 miles every day for a year. I started around the first of March last year, so I have about 3 more weeks to meet my goal. Yes, I've walked the walk almost every day and I've done it along Seattle's Elliott Bay Trail which goes right along the waterfront. Every walk I stop at the spot in the first picture above to snap a photo which will remind me of the sky conditions. During the winter, our days here in Seattle are short, and since I like to walk early, the darkness adds to the challenge of getting good photos. As I'm walking, I carry along my little Canon SX 730 camera to snap a few photos of things that interest me. I choose a few of the snaps to share here on the blog.

I snapped this because the water was so smooth.
This is unusual in a big body of water like Elliott Bay
which is a part of Puget Sound.

I happened upon this little critter just as it found breakfast.

I love the look of the Mallard duck.
If you love critters, check out Saturday's Critters

Every morning I walk by Grain Teminal 86.
This is where grain from US Midwest is loaded on ships.
The ships are headed to the largest grain market in the
world ... Asia. I especially liked the name of this ship ...
Magic Twilight

This is the Magic Twilight being loaded with grain at
twilight.  February 8th at 7:17AM

More views of the Magic Twilight

I always enjoy the view of Mt Rainier but this snap is
especially to capture the "linticular" clouds. Read about
them HERE on Wikipedia. The clouds are a natural
creation caused by the mountain.

I smiled when I snapped this photo. I dedicate this photo
to all those who believe governments are
poisioning us with contrails. I just
don't think so.

Musical Interlude

I happened to discover this delightful tune on YouTube.  Enjoy! The Spinning Song by Keola Beamer.  (Ka Hikina O Ka Hau: The Coming of the Snow)

Supply Chain Notes ...

The big ships are leaving here with loads of containers
but they are not loaded to the max as was common
before the pandemic.

This CMA CGM ship could have carried quite a few
more containers on the forward part of the ship.
This view is looking from Seattle to the west,
the water is Puget Sound. The trip for the ship to
reach the Pacific Ocean will take about 4 hours. Then,
10 to 14 days to Asia.

Amazing Eagle Video

In my September 4 post I told the story of encountering Matt and Patti along the waterfront as they were banding a Cooper's Hawk. They were kind enough to allow me to take photos to place on the blog. I continue to see Matt along the walk from time to time and we usually stop for a brief chat about what birds are being seen in the area. Matt told me about a video he had put together from still photos that tells the story of a Bald Eagle capturing a Seagull. I asked Matt if I could share this video here on the blog and his reply, "You bet John". Thank you Matt ... you take amazing photos!

  2. Hello John
You are doing great with your daily walks and goal. It is such a beautiful place and trail for walking, the views are lovely. Great captures of the skies, the ships and Mt Rainier. I love the ducks, the Eagle video and your pretty Hummingbird. I must be the only person not playing Wordle, I will probably check it out soon. Great post and beautiful photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.

  3. Hello John, :=) Lovely to see the Golden Eye, and Mallard ducks on your walk, whilst I listen to the short but delightful Spinning Song music. The video of the Eagles attempts to catch the seagull, was exciting to see. There are some wonderful in flight shots of the eagle. It was nice of Matt to let you share them here. The sea does look calm, like a lake, and the clouds over Mt Rainier are unusual, and now I know how they are formed. Your last two shots are very beautiful, the Hummer at sunset especially.
    Enjoy your weekend.
    All the best.

  4. These are lovely images. Wordle has become so popular. I like that it takes just 1 or 2 minutes of your time daily.

  5. These walks and pictures are great to follow. I used to go birding at Cape May, NJ, where, when the bald eagle population had been restored, we could see them. Also ospreys and other large fishing birds. Eagles are known as the muggers of the sky, because of attacking other birds. Two eagles ganged up on an osprey when I was down there, and stole the fish he'd just caught. I wonder if the gull was carrying food, too.

  6. How amazing to see a hummer at this time of year. We usually see them in the summer months here in FL. Love all of your photos AND I've been thinking about playing Wordle. Now I definitely will! Thanks for the info! Enjoy your weekend, Diane

  8. WOW! That eagle video is stunning. That guy obviously has a good eye for nature photography and some good equipment . Now, that being said, your photos are gorgeous as always. I do think the Hummer shot is a prize winning shot, at least in my eyes.

  9. Great photos all round. The ships aren’t fully loaded for sure. The eagle shots are incredible. I felt sorry for the seagull, not something I’ve ever written before. I enjoyed the music too, John. Great post.

  10. Hi JOHN,

  12. I just read your comment on my Sunday post. First of all, I really enjoyed hearing how Ruth Ozeki dealt with looking at her face for three hours, and I MIGHT try it someday, but not now. Maybe when I'm older (smile). Maple Grove is at the very end of Baker Lake, and you need to cross over the dam to get to the trailhead. It is so beautiful that it's worth the trip. and finally, I got the word today on the fourth try, but it was hard (although your name should have given you a bit of a clue. :-)

  13. As always John, your photos are magnificent. They give off a true since of being there . . . I can almost feel the cool air as it drifts across the waters of the Sound.
That game sounds great, too. Games like that are great ways to keep the mind sharp.

  14. Hello John
    A lovely post from you.
Wordle is very popular at the moment, but I still haven't tried it!
I'm pleased that you have been able to continue with your walks and share your lovely mix of photographs.
    Stay safe and well.

    All the best Jan

  15. John I am on a 38 day Wordle streak. I haven't figured out how to share from my IPAD (where I play) which I think my son thinks is funny (or worse probably). He turned me on to the game so I just let him know in a text how I did. Did you realize that New York Times has bought it? ....
I love all your pictures especially the last one and am very interested in the cargo containers. My oldest son (not the wordle one but the Tacoma one) worked in shipping as an intermodal manager after getting out of the coast guard. Actually he still does but for a trucking firm instead of shipping. Thanks as always for sharing your beautiful walks. (Sorry I got carried away talking about Wordle, but my youngest son and I are the only people I have known who actually play it. Now there is you too ;>)
