From my old postcard collection

Today, all of America's fifty states have both an official state bird and state flower. Several states have adopted the same symbols. The cardinal, for example, has been chosen as the official bird by seven states and the violet is the official flower of four states. These cards were designed by a father-son team, Arthur and Alan Singer of Jericho, New York. The father, Arthur, created the bird designs, and Alan contributed the flower designs. These cards are all postmarked on the First Day of Issue of the stamps, April 14, 1982, in Washington, D.C.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of cards. I enjoyed seeing all the state birds. I especially love my home state of Maryland's bird, the Baltimore Oriole. Take care, I wish you a great day and a happy new week!
Wonderful, John. I liked going through them and seeing which ones I could have guessed on my own. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful post. I’ll take some time to look at each one.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing these with us.
I think the Red Cardinal is popular with quite a few states, but so nice to see the birds here.
Stay safe and well.
