March 10 at Green Lake and Glory

Wow. One of those mornings when it is just great to be out and walking. I'm excited about being almost 1/3rd of the way through March and have walked and posted each day. Today's sky was competely clear. Temps were still quite cool in the low 30sF.

At home, just before leaving for Green Lake ...

A giant Yang Ming cargo ship rounds the bend into the port of Seattle. I got a kick out of the name of this ship ... YM Upsurgence. Hmmm ... it sounds good but what exactly are they referring to? Hoping for an upsurgence in freight business? In the pic below you see the Elliott Bay Marina below the big ship and Bainbridge Island and the Olympic Mountains in the distance.

Glory

During January 2019 I was not actively posting here on the blog. However, on January 30 I saw the most glorious sunset I have seen in the last several years. Almost the entire sky was covered with a brilliant orange color reflecting from the clouds. Just for the record book, here it is ...

March 9 at Green Lake

Another cold morning in Seattle. Today's (cheerful) forecast is "Mostly Sunny" but we will have to burn off the low clouds and morning fog first. The walk went well ... 3.31 miles ... pace 18:11. I've got to remember the pace is (slightly) impacted by my stopping to take photos. Oh well ... :-)

March 8 at Green Lake

Cold, snowy, and a dreary morning today. The walk must go on and so it did. There was a combination of light rain and snow. I think today was my first lifetime experience of walking 3 miles or so in a snowfall. It really wasn't too bad. I did get a slight build-up of snow on my jacket and hat, but I stayed warm and enjoyed having the path almost to myself.

March 7 at Green Lake

For those of you who may be wondering ... I'm working on a little experiment here. The goal is to do a daily post for this month. Wish me luck. The goal here is combined with my new year's resolution to walk around Green Lake as often as possible ... hopefully, daily. As they say, "We will see."

The day started with snowfall. Next along came the rain and
then that moved on.
Partly cloudy skies by time for my walk.

One of these days I'll explain the yellow line.

Clouds have rolled in this morning and almost a total overcast exists at 8:31 AM. Outdoor temp now 37F. Rain in the forecast later this afternoon. Today's walk 2.89 miles, pace 18:27.

March 5 at Green Lake

Got a late start with today's walk around Green Lake. I spent the morning at the hospital holding little babies in the NICU for busy nurses and parents who can't be there.

Another blue sky day. Last one for a while according to the
forecasters.

Yes, I know ... another Mallard.
Next time ... a female.
Both male and female have that little patch of blue feathers
in the same spot.

This little guy was kind of fun.
His mom (I guess) was pushing a stroller and
he got way ahead of her.
He flew by me several times.
I'm guessing he was 2 or 3 and a good rider!

Lots of Canadian Geese at Green Lake.
Here at the Lake these birds seem accustomed to
humans walking along very close to them.

March 4th at Green Lake

Another beautiful sunrise at Green Lake this morning.

First sunlight of the morning casts an interesting color.
No crowd on the walk today!
About 32F and wall-to-wall blue sky.

Driving back home after the walk.
There is a bit of traffic every day here.
This road is known as Pacific Highway.

Back home, went up to the top of the hill to snap some pics of
the Olympic Mountains.
Of several shots, this one was my favorite.

While snapping pics of the mountains, this black bird seemed
interested in watching.
