We are taking a look at the memory book created by Charlotte Isham after she and Anne Hausmann (two young school teachers) took a road trip of over 11,000 miles across America in 1941. The journey begins here and continues below, July 13 through 18, as they arrive in the Seattle, Washington, area.
Continued here, as Charlotte and Anne drive down the coast, see the Great Redwoods, tour San Francisco, and check out Southern California.
Thanks for stopping by John's Island.

I am amazed at some of the good photos taken back then.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Yes,when I learned about the pictures being in print,I wanted to hurry home to tell Jake.Needless to say,I had a moment and needed to recollect myself.
That was quite a journey for two women to undertake especially back in 1941.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind thoughts, John. All is okie-dokie :)
Wonderful scenes. I'll bet they really enjoyed seeing Seattle through the waterfront tour. The whole area looks lovely. I wonder how much of what they saw remains today?
