1941 July 18 --> 24

We are taking a look at the memory book created by Charlotte Isham after she and Anne Hausmann (two young school teachers) took a road trip of over 11,000 miles across America in 1941.  The journey begins here and continues below, July 18 through 24, as they venture down the West Coast, see the Giant Redwoods, explore San Francisco, and see the sights around Southern California.

[Sorry for SO MANY photos on today's post ... just really tough to decide which ones to leave out!]

In the next installment the young ladies will begin their trip east along famous Route 66.

Thank you for stopping by John's Island.

  1. I have to say that a trip with your friend, sounds like the best way to travel. I can only imagine what a great time these ladies had.

  2. I enjoyed looking at old photos and postcards of San Francisco and LA. The scenes around San Fran. brought back a lot of lovely memories of my visits there so long ago.
