| Rainier National Park -- Washington 1916 Map |
If you are wondering why a map of Rainier National Park would be in a collection of railroad memorabilia, consider this: The railroad that printed and issued the map, the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul, Railway (C M St P Ry) in 1916 was one of the major roads serving the Pacific Northwest. All National Parks were attractive tourist destinations. Your options for putting together a trip to visit a Park were much more limited than today ... one of the best ways was to plan a trip taking advantage of the travel offered by train. The C M St P had service close to Mt. Rainier so they advertised and promoted Rainier National Park.
Thank you for stopping by John's Island.

Amazing to think how much has changed in a century, and how much remains the same. The mountain isn't different, but our world sure is. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much has changed in such a relatively short amount of time. ;) Wonder what the mountain thinks of our "progress!"
