Card # 1489 -- View of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, Washington, from Seattle.
Although the stamp is missing, the postmark is Hillyard, Washington, November 9, and it looks pretty clearly, to us, to be 1903. However, in the message, it looks like the sender wrote the date as March 8, 1908. Either way, it's an old card.
Here is the message ...
Printed in the United States, Edward H. Mitchell, Publisher, San Francisco.
We were unaware of Hillyard, Washington, but found the following on the web ...
It looks the same today, doesn't it? I love these old postcards, John. A little slice of life a century ago. :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your old post cards.....where do you find these??
ReplyDeleteneat scene on the card and cool to have it marked from a town that got 'swallowed up' later on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! To think that those mountains are still just as lovely as they were way back then.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really nice old post cards. How many do you have and how long have you been collecting them?
ReplyDeleteA view of water and mountains. It doesn't get any better than that!
