A Bachelor's Dream -- 1913

A Bachelor's Dream on his Claim,
in the Northwest
Just over 101 years ago ... can't you imagine it? Don't miss the broom and dustpan.

Postmarked Marmarth, North Dakota, August 27, 1913.

Let us know if you can help us read the message ... our guess is below ...

Dear Friend

Just a ????? riding up and down the hills. Just have time to breathe between times. Am tired & sleepy all the time.

With love
Millie

Answering your questions:

To Kerri and Happyone … We have been collecting old post cards for 20+ years.  It’s difficult to say how many we have but probably a couple of thousand. There are basically two sources we’ve used:  1.  Memorabilia “swap meets” or “shows” where dealers and collectors gather around the country, usually once a year in a particular location, and 2. More recently, online auctions. Thank you for your questions.

Thank you for stopping by John's Island.

  1. I think that missing word is "line" as in writing a line (while) riding... but Millie didn't believe in punctuation, apparently. That's quite a picture! :-)
