16 Photographs Glacier Nat'l Park -- Early 1900s

Small set of souvenir photos

1910 - 1920
Glacier National Park

Glacier Nat'l Park was created
May 11, 1910

There is no indication of who took these photos. We did find a government website with this info: "Many high quality photographs exist from the parks’ early photographers such as Morton Elrod, T.J. Hileman, Ted Marble, F. E. Matthes, and others who scoured the park to publicize it’s beauty and earn their livings."

Thank you for stopping by John's Island.

  1. They are definitely wonderful photographs of a beautiful place. And most of the pictures would show no difference today, since these mountains and lakes are almost timeless. A century in Glacier is just a blink of an eye. :-)

  5. I saw your comment on Troutbirder's site and came over for a visit. What breathtaking scenery! My husband has been to Glacier and has been promising to take me there for the last 35 years. Years ago I would have loved to hike those mountains. Nowadays I think sitting in the lodge or seeing the sights by car would be more my speed.

  8. that's actually a really neat idea - and the photos are amazing even at so small a size. It would be cool to do something like this for a big event - like our summer camping trips, or country hikes. or even with pics of the grandchildren for my parents.
