Highway to Yellowstone -- 1938

On the Red Lodge-Cooke City, Montana,
Highway to Yellowstone National Park in June

E C Kropp Co Card 11459

We surely hope your roads don't look like this today. For those of you not familiar with Yellowstone Park, tourists frequently toured the Park in buses, like the one shown on this card, in the days before private automobiles were common. This old card is a "Natural Color Post Card Made in U. S. A. by E. C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee, Wis." Their card #11459.

Thank you for stopping by John's Island.

  1. I went to Yellowstone years ago during the winter and we got into the lodge via Snow-Cat, which was the only way to get there except by snowmobile. Cars weren't able to get there in the winter, but all the roads in the summer, I suspect, look MUCH better than this one! :-)

  2. How fun is that?! I'd be interest in Yellowstone, but not when the snow is that deep. Good find.

  3. We have rough roads here in Winter. Lots of narrow roads you cannot pass.

So you hold your breath no cars are in sight. If so. One has to wait till the one who got there first can go on.

  5. Looks like a lot of fun! : ) We were there in July quite a few years ago and it snowed!

  6. I toured Yellowstone about five years ago and hope to go back again someday--it is my favorite National park of the many I've visited.
