Vancouver BC Waterfront AND Green Lake

May 8th

A conference called me to beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A stop by the hotel's concierge desk provided the suggestion for my daily 3-mile walk ... along the waterfront.

A beautiful day for a walk in beautiful Vancouver BC

A "seawall" walk goes for literally miles.
This spot is near Canada Place and the Convention Center.

Canada Place
The best cruise terminal on the entire west coast, IMHO

I like the idea of flying on a float plane.
It's on my list of things to do.

May 11th (today!)

What a day for a walk around Green Lake!

At the start of today's walk.
Warm, sunny skies brought out crowds.
May 11 at Green Lake, Seattle, WA
Previous 3 days ... May 8, 9 and 10 ... I completed my 3-mile walks in Vancouver while visiting that beautiful city. Today it's back to Green Lake and the biggest crowd of folks I've seen since starting my walks in January.

Turtles galore.
The sun and warm temps really brings them out.

Some pups like the water.
Linking up with Eileen's Saturday's Critters.  Lots of critters, mostly dogs, at Green Lake today.

Taking the granddaughter fishing?

Per some research at Wikipedia, I think this is a common merganser.
Anyone have another suggestion?

  1. Hello, the waterfront walk in Vancouver looks lovely. Love the dog in the water and the cute turtle photos. Is it warm enough there to swim? I would need bathtub temps for me to get in the water. That is a Common Merganser, great shot. Wonderful photos, John! Thanks for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank also for the visit and the comment.

  2. Oh, so you were north of me for a few days, John. Just beautiful shots of the area near your conference. And I love the turtle shot especially from today's walk around Green Lake. You are getting regular walks in and I wondered if you feel any effects from them yet. :-)

  11. Hi John- my Partner has been to Canada on the Holland America's 'Volladam'- she loved the journey up to Alaska as well. Very nice photos there of Vancouver and also your walk about the Green Lake area. Have a great week ahead John. Regards. KEV.

  12. Vancouver looks like a great place with some lovely weather. I may be wrong, but I think you might have a Goosander there rather than a Merganser. It's a good looking bird either way.

  13. There are incredible tours and sightseeing options in Vancouver and if you can swing the time it is definitely worth it.this content The same is true of your departure day - why end a perfectly good cruise vacation by stressing out on whether or not you will make it off the ship in time to make that ridiculously early flight home?
