Today is Earth Day.

Path around Green Lake, Seattle
April 22, 2019
Got a really late (for me) start with today's walk around Green Lake. It was cloudy and just starting to rain as I arrived at the Lake about 3:30 PM. At first I did not think there would be photos worth sharing, but here are a few anyway. I am wondering if any of my followers know enough about pine trees to answer a question about one really old pine along the way. See the photos below.

Concerned about this very old tree.
Take a close look at the right side.

Closer

Still closer

Really close.
Is this new growth or is the tree dying?

Seen earlier today from home.
I like the looks of this little ship.

  1. Well, I have no idea what's happening to you pine tree but it looks like it was a great tree in it's day.

  2. ...the tree looks like a sequoia. I have tried growing them here in New York with little success, but I have seen a few growing locally. Air pollution may be a problem.

  3. Hi John...Everything has a Life-Span...perhaps the tree is at it's end- though I doubt it- possibly the change in color is due to climatic variations which has triggered it- a sort of reaction to change. Cheers. KEV.

  4. New growth would be green. We have pine trees lining the property at the old house in town and sometimes some of the needles turn brown like that and fall off. So far it doesn't seem to have hurt the trees.

  5. I certainly give any suggestions about that tree.I sure hope it isn't dying.

  6. That doesn't look like a healthy tree to me. New growth would be green. But it's only on part of the tree, so maybe other than not being symmetrical, it will live on. :-)
